Heat Pump Repair in West Salem, PA
Heat Pump Repair for West Salem properties, on call around the clock. Call (215) 484-0300 and describe what the system is doing.
If your West Salem electricity bill jumped this winter with no change in habits, the heat pump is probably leaning on resistance backup heat it should not need. That is diagnosable and usually fixable.
West Salem is covered overnight and through holidays. The crew dispatched is the nearest one working Mercer County, not whoever is free back in Plumsteadville.
The usual suspects
A unit encased in ice means defrost is not working. Cooling fine but not heating points squarely at the reversing valve. Auxiliary heat on a mild day means the heat pump is not pulling its weight, and charge is the first thing to check.
Heating and cooling around West Salem
north-western Pennsylvania takes lake-effect snow off Lake Erie, and that shapes the work in West Salem. Sidewall vent terminations on high-efficiency furnaces get buried, pressure switches refuse to let the furnace fire, and the fix is often nothing more than clearing the pipe.
Gas serves most of Mercer County, with propane filling in further out. Heat pumps here need their outdoor units kept clear all winter.
What happens when you call
If the honest answer is that the repair is not worth doing, we say so, including when a replacement would pay us considerably better. That is how the West Salem work has grown by recommendation.

Heat Pump Repair in West Salem — questions
Do you cover West Salem for heat pump repair?
Yes. West Salem in Mercer County is inside our service area and the 16125 postal area is worked by the nearest crew. Call (215) 484-0300 at any hour, including nights, weekends and holidays.
My electricity bill doubled this winter. Is that the heat pump?
Very likely, and it usually means resistance backup is doing work the heat pump should be doing. Low charge, a failed outdoor fan, a stuck reversing valve or a misconfigured thermostat all produce that bill.
Is ice on the outdoor unit normal?
Light frost between defrost cycles is. A solid shell of ice over the coil or fan is not — switch to emergency heat and call rather than chipping at it, which damages the coil.
Do heat pumps work through a Mercer County winter?
Modern cold-climate models do, with backup for the coldest stretches. Older single-stage units hand over to backup much sooner, which is where the reputation came from.
